  Technical Information..

Coating pigments are mixed with binders and other coating additives to produce coating colour. This is done in high shear mixers within the coating kitchen. These coating colours consist of 80-90% coating pigments, which can be all clay or all calcium carbonate and any blend of the two. This coating colour is then applied to the paper either on the paper machine or using separate equipment off the paper machine
Product is normally supplied in bulk and transferred to storage tanks within the mill. Most products settle on standing so must be stored in agitated tanks and all pipe line flushed of product when not in use. Tanks must also be monitored for signs of microbiological contamination and treated accordingly. Products have no serious health risk.
