The paper formed on the Paper or Tissue machine does not all reach the final reel. The product that is trimmed from the edges or is produced during a sheet break and when starting up is generally returned to the Stock Preparation system to be re-used and is called Broke. This normally needs some treatment before it can be returned to the paper machine. |

A paper machine broke system normally consists of the following. A Broke Pulper to break down the paper, a broke tank for buffer storage, screening and deflaking. The cleaned and deflaked stock is then normally mixed with the main line stock in a mixing chest before entering the Approach Flow system. Sometimes a thickener is required in the system to reach the correct consistency before mechanical treatment can be performed. |
